Kitchen Portfolio – Kitchen Supply and Installation

Project Completion: Nov 2009
Project Timescale: 10 days
Completed In: 9 days
Background: Our clients asked us to quote for the replacement of their existing kitchen which had served them very well for 15 years plus. The aim was to to keep the style and layout of the kitchen largely intact, whilst however, looking for a bit more usable storage space and a fresher cleaner feel to their aging kitchen.

Once the clients had asked us to proceed, we met with them again on many occasions in order to finalise the design and to run through in detail exactly what they would require and where. We confirmed exact timescales and agreed start and completion dates for the project. We kept our clients informed almost on a weekly basis regarding at what stage of production their kitchen and the organisation of the complete project was. Once complete we were very impressed with the final result, creating a traditional kitchen with a modern feel, with excellent working space and improved storage options.

Specification:
DoorMarpatt Mowbray Light Oak
Kitchen Units – 16 Colour Matched Units
Worktop – Our client chose Corian and selected Bisque colour to compliment the rest of the kitchen.
Appliances – These were supplied by our client. They chose mostly Neff

Client Feedback

Why did you decide to change your original kitchen?
Our original kitchen was of good quality all-wood and wood-veneer units which had lasted over twenty years, but had (understandably!) begun to look tired and shabby. We looked at ranges from Homebase, B&Q and Magnet, but decided that they had nothing available of sufficiently high quality to equal what we already had. We then looked at offerings from John Lewis and all the higher quality kitchen suppliers in St. Albans before getting quotations from John Lewis, Underwood bespoke kitchens, and Lime.

Why did you choose Lime Interiors?
First, Lime’s website attracted us, because amongst other very useful information it suggested replacement doors could be all that was necessary. There were several email exchanges, mostly full of their reassurance that there would be no pressure, but that a free visit and quote would be the first step so we would have good information from which to make a decision. The advice was sensible: yes we could just go for an update of necessary items – worktops, repair some cupboards, floor etc. But the reality would likely be that in a few years we would need further work, which would in turn disturb the new stuff (In fact Greg said: ‘I think you need to spend as little as possible, or go for the whole thing’). So we took the plunge for a complete refurb and haven’t regretted it for an instant.

John Lewis quoted a slightly higher price, but gave the impression that we, rather than they, would be responsible for the management of the project.

Underwood offered nothing that was noticeably superior in quality, and their quoted price was very substantially higher.

How did you find our home visits and design process?
Excellent and painstaking. In retrospect, we could all have thought a bit harder about how practical it was to fit cupboards in narrow spaces, e.g. for towel rails.

What was it like dealing with us before, during and after the installation?
We cannot rate Lime’s project management too highly. They provided a detailed schedule beforehand, and kept to it absolutely. The project was completed precisely when they said it would be (no, actually it was about 2 hours early …). They do exactly what they say on the tin. Everyone who worked on the kitchen was a fine craftsman, and helpful, courteous, and tidy.

Is there anything we could have done differently that would have improved upon your experience of dealing with us?
Remind customers of the need to deliver the new units and take out the old before the official start date, and that the new units will take up an incredible amount of floor space elsewhere in the property pending installation.

Are you pleased with the overall look of the kitchen and what has it been like living with it?
The kitchen more than exceeds our expectations, and becomes ever better as time goes by.

Project Completion: December 2009
Project Timescale: 10 days
Completed In: 10 days
Background: Our client was extending a modern house situated in a newish development. The original developer kitchen did not provide them with what they wanted. With a young family there was a need for more space. Our client wanted something contemporary with wow factor built in at reasonable costs. To begin the project, we visited our client three times and performed a site survey. Our visits before installation enabled us to talk through and review options with their builder on site who was project managing the extension of the property. We provided the builder with on site drawings for his Electrican and Plumber. Our brief was to supply and install everything seen in the kitchen. This included Corian worktops and a full range of appliances.

We were very impressed with the final result, creating a modern kitchen workspace with excellent storage. The kitchen feels very light and open and the utility room keeps the laundry areas nicely separated from the cooking space.

For every project we complete we try to obtain honest client feedback to help us improve and see areas we are doing well. Our clients comments are shown below:

Why did you decide to change your original kitchen?
We decided to upgrade our kichen as it was the original from when the house was built 15 years ago and was dated and in need of repair. We also wanted to create a utility room by converting the garage.

Why did you choose Lime Interiors?
We wanted a company that deals with bespoke kitchens and not a large scale distribution company. We also really liked the ethos of the personal touch that Lime Interiors have.

How did you find our home visits and design process?
Extremely helpful, especially the idea of return visits after 6 and 12 months.

What was it like dealing with us before, during and after the installation?
1st class. Either Greg or Gary have been approachable, easy to reach and always willing to help.

Is there anything we could have done differently that would have improved upon your experience of dealing with us?
We had a couple of teething problems which came out when we started using the kitchen, but these were dealt with immediately. Everytime we had a problem it was dealt with quickly and to a very high standard.

Are you pleased with the overall look of the kitchen and what has it been like living with it?
The design of the kitchen which we developed with Lime Interiors has worked out well and we have had nothing but positive comments.

Project Completion: Oct 2009
Project Timescale: 10 days
Completed In: 10 days
Background:
Our recent installation in St. Albans was for a full property renovation taking place in a three bedroom top floor maisonette. The project required removal of an existing kitchen and relocation of the kitchen to another room.
Solution:
With careful planning, we can up with a design that would involve the removal of a glass panel screen and infil of existing serving hatch to create a modern open plan design that would make best use of space. Cost effectiveness was an important consideration to keep within the total project budget. The design included a breakfast bar and a premium worktop constructed in Corian.

Next Stage:
After reviewing the design and cost we supplied appliances and handled installation. Our timescale had to accomodate other rennovation works taking place.
Summary:
The design has resulted in stunning kitchen installation. There is now plenty of storage space and the Corian worktop gives an expensive luxury feel. The open plan breakfast bar design has made the kitchen a functional yet especially practical space.

What made you decide to change your kitchen and why did you choose Lime Interiors?
The kitchen was old and in need of bringing up-to-date. I chose Lime Interiors because I was impressed with the service provided. It was good to always deal with the same people and not have to explain what was going on each time I had a query, as you often do with a big organisation. The price was competitive and I felt happy to hand over the keys to my house as I trusted you.
What was it like dealing with us before, during and after the installation?
Easy! You always responded quickly to queries. You were friendly, helpful and polite and dealt with any issues promptly. It made the whole process as stress-free as possible.
What has it been like living with your new kitchen?
I am very happy with the new kitchen – that’s why I’ve asked for your help again! I wish I’d got round to changing the kitchen sooner.
Would you recommend us to friends/colleagues?
Yes – I have recommended you to a couple of people and would happily provide references to others.

What made you decide to change your kitchen and why did you choose Lime Interiors?
The kitchen in our rented flat was long overdue for a refit and we were aware of the high quality workmanship of the team.
How did you find the design process with us and our competitors?
For the reason mentioned above we chose not to look elsewhere. The kitchen has limited space and Lime Interiors maximised the potential of that space.
How did you find our payment terms?
Terms were agreed prior to commencement of the work to all parties satisfaction.
What was it like dealing with us before, during and after the installation?
Gary and Greg visited us in our home with sample materials and to discuss the plan for the kitchen and the timescale involved. We had a tentant in situ at the time who needed to be moved out of the property for the duration of the works and therefore deadlines were a major factor and this was taken into consideration. The work was carried out within these timescales and to a high standard and the flat was left clean and tidy for the tenants to move back into. As part of the service Lime Interiors have revisited the flat to check that everything is in order.
What has it been like living with your new kitchen?
Our tenants are delighted and have since signed up for another 6 months!
Is there anything you think we could have done differently that would have improved upon your experience of dealing with us?
We were impressed with the complete service that Lime Interiors offered us, made more complex by having a tenant at the property.
Did we provide the correct level of client care and attention at all times?
Yes and have continued to do so will the post installation visits.

Lime Interiors Project Profile – Kitchen St Albans

Project Completion: July 2009
Project Timescale: 5 days
Completed In: 4.5 days
Background:
We were contacted by Sue, a local resident of St. Albans, for help with her newly acquired Buy-To-Let project. The challenge was to update, modernize and create more space from a small square kitchen in a 1 bedroom apartment in St. Albans. We knew this would be a challenge because of the lack of usable wall space. Sue needed the work to be carried out within the next 2 weeks and also required a supply and installation service and wanted to use a local company.
Solution:
After careful consideration, we prepared a design and presented this to Sue and explained how we could increase the storage space and install good quality appliances at cost effective prices. This was important to Sue, because we needed to work to a sensible and cost effective budget as Sue needed to update the remainder of the apartment also.
Next Stage:
After reviewing the designs and costings, Sue asked us to proceed with the supply and installation. We agreed a price, and confirmed we could accommodate the timescales Sue was working to.
Summary:
We estimated the project would take 5/6 days to complete. The project was completed in 4.5 days and we kept Sue updated every day of the project by phone and email. The result, is Sue now has a stunning new modern kitchen in her lovely apartment. We have managed to increase the storage space by about 40% and made the kitchen look bigger and more practical/usable than it was before.
Here is an extract from the email we received this week from Sue.
“Hi Gary,
Went to have a look at the kitchen for the first time on Friday – saw your guys working away.
It looks amazing – I’m really happy with it! Everything about it looks first class. Well done – for such a small space you have created what looks like a bigger space. I’d be really happy if I was renting and had a kitchen like that! The appliances look really good too. I think it’s worth every penny.
Secondly what a business service you have – kept me informed at every step – worked with me with my tight budget – nothing appears to have been too much trouble. I certainly would have no hesitation in recommending you to anybody who wants a kitchen.”
